I added a Google Plus button to the sec nav but it is not showing up correctly. Then I tried adding it to the language switcherloader but it broke the menu. Please advise. I plan to add more social media buttons in this area.

    Hi there,

You web-site is password protected and when I entered the username and the password you provided in the “Access Information provided for JA Staff (JA Forum Feature)” web-form, it kept looping for ages, never letting me in.

Please check that out as access to your frontend and backend is paramount for our support to you.

    Regards,

    Alex

    Hi there,

To replace the four buttons that you can see in positions secnav-1, secnav-2, secnav-4 and secnav-4 with social network icons will require much code rewriting and is outside of the scope of our support.

Please try following in your Joomla administrator panel:

1 Extensions -> Template Manager -> click on your default template name
2 In opened up to you “Template Manager Edit Style” click on tab named “Custom Code”
3 In the “Before </head>” text area enter following code:

<!-- Go to www.addthis.com/dashboard to customize your tools -->
    <script type="text/javascript" src="//s7.addthis.com/js/300/addthis_widget.js#pubid=ra-53621b4f4d15f957"></script>

4 Click on “Save” and test your web-site front pages, where you should see social icons:

The benefit of this solution is that after you implemented in once, you can easily add to your side panel or delete from it as many or as few social icons as you wish, without touching you web-site.

Please let me know if you are happy with this solution and if you are, I’ll happily talk you through more details.

    Regards,

    Alex

    Hi there:

Sorry about the late reply. I didn’t get a notification that you responded. I entered the code but I don’t know how to change the links so the icons link to the appropriate account. How can i do that?

    Hi there,

Apology for the glitch of the notification system.

To get your own personal code for the social icons of your choice from AddThis.com, please go to AddThis.com, register with them your account and then go My Profiles -> Manage Profiles -> Add a Profile.

Once you created your profile, right away you will see your own Profile ID number, resembling ra-12345b4f4d15f678.

    Hope this helps,

    Regards,

    Alex

    Hi there,

I am sure you are missing something trivial in your AddThis profile ID settings as my own test profile works on your site just fine.

Please feel free to PM me your AddThis account credentials to have a look around it.

    Regards,

    Alex

This is entirely my fault. I do apologise for the lack of clear instructions from my side. I now deleted your AddThis profile, created a new one for you and applied it at your staging sandbox. Please have a look.

By default AddThis.com generates for you five sharing buttons which you can see currently but you can easily select at will how many (up to 10 with free AddThis account and all available with Pro) or how few and which exactly social networks icons you’d rather display (including the “Email” and “Print” icons):

    – point your mouse cursor on your profile -> Settings -> Share Settings:

Under “All Available Services” click on a service of your choice and click “Add” to see it moving into the “My Favorite Services” box:

Click on “Save” and you are done.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Alex

P S Once you are comfortable with personalising your AddThis account and don’t feel like you need me help with it any more, please don’t forget to change your AddThis password.
