    Currently this is my website…

    http://www.mmacube.com

Here it is with the design…
    http://www.mmacube.com/index.php?tp=1&template=ja_sanidine

what do I have to turn off and on to get everything working properly in the demo?

Here is how I want it to look like….
    http://www.bestofjoomla.com/index2.php?option=com_bestoftemplate&task=demo&no_html=1&id=1847

    Any help would be great.

should I just uninstall everything and then install the quick install? I really need some help, I am a total joomla noobie.

The best way to get it like the sample is to install the quickstart. Not sure if that is what you did or how much trouble to reinstall.

Thanks for the response 🙂

the thing I did was install the template and then see if it worked, but I’m not sure how to move all the modules to the destinations like the sample, without messing up my main template.

So should I uninstall the template/mods and just put on the quickinstall?

ALSO. Would the quick install overwrite any of my current content? I have tons of content I don’t really want to lose.

    Further help would be great!

Yes it would screw up your current content.

Follow my instructions on this thread regarding a way to find out what is going on.

    I’ll look into that.

Hopefully that will do the trick.

I’m having trouble understanding what you do at the sql information part.

    also.

would it to be possible to just uninstall everything, and back up all my content on my hardrive?

Then just run the quick install from scratch?

What i would do i just upload the quickstart files into a new subfolder for example “newsite”
Also create a new extra database (if you can)

Then install your new quickstart in the “newsite” folder into your new database and make sure you select to install the sample data.

When this is done you will have an exact copy of the joomlart demo site in http://www.mmacube.com/newsite

You will keep you old install http://www.mmacube.com/index.php?tp=1&template=ja_sanidine

And then you can start to move your articles to your fresh installed site.

When your new install is completly done you can move all content on your webhosts root to a subfolder like “oldsite” and move “newsite” to root and you should have your site up and running.

    thank you very much!

that sound’s very good. So basically just develope everything in the new folder for example…

MMAcube.com/newsite and then when I am ready to switch the old site with the new one, just swap the files in the root folder with the files in the NEWsite folder?

    correct?

just put on localhost, root and any old name you wish as the db name, do not worry about the password as there isn’t one set in the basic wamp install.

You should be up and running in less than 5 mins

You probably just have a couple of page classes to edit. There doesn’t appear to be too much wrong.

While that would work I think that is a lot of effort just to change template.

    Phill,

I have it running on my desktop now. I can enter the admin and see the template working, but what now?

Start by looking at the main menu parameters and get yours to match. Then adjust your modules to the correct positions (left-right etc). Do all this by comparing what is on the demo on your desktop to what is live.

I would install a copy of my live site to my desktop too. That way I could make all the changes and develop my site without it affecting the live version in any way. As these are all just database changes, when you are finished you would probably only have to upload your sql dump from your desktop to the live site.

    sounds confusing to me :(.

I’ll have to follow bennitos method. It might take more work, but i’m not very confident in my skills to ‘NOT mess up”

I will try bennitos method for now.
