Sometimes, even on clearing the joomla cache in the backend the changes do not reflect, for this one can also use ctrl+F5 to force reload the page. If then also the changes do not show up, i prefer to close that particular window and delete the browser cache and cookies.
However, if i clear cookies, most of my sites kicks me out and have to relogin. Therefore, i work using firefox (my preferred) and to confirm the changes i check the site in IE. So even if i clear the cache or cookies from IE, sites in firefox do not kick me out. This saves a lot of trouble.
