November 1, 2007 at 8:48 am #231929It display the Frontpage content. You could goto Content->Frontpage manager to see those contents.
November 1, 2007 at 5:25 pm #231958I figured out that the Headline function in the JA-News extension was displaying Front Page content by turning the Front Page option on and off for selected items.
What was not very clear was how to get Front Page content to just appear in the Headline function, and not also on the Front Page of the site at the same time. I finally found a forum post that vaguely referenced the need to set the parameters of the Main Menu link to Home – Component Front Page to show 0 items. In other words:
1. Go to Menu Manager
2. Select Main Menu items
3. Select the “Home” page link to the Compnent – Front Page to edit the parameters.
4. In the Edit Menu Item page for the “Home” main menu item, change the following parameters to “0”:
# Leading
# Intro
Columns
# Links
5. Save
6. Select the content items you want to display in the Ajax Headline function of JA-News and publish them to the Front Page by changing the value for that item to “Show on Front Page”.If this was explained somewhere else, in the documentation for the template for instance, I was unable to find it.

November 1, 2007 at 9:21 pm #231966This process is explained in the JA-News Documentation.
The JA-News extension download did not include any documentation. Nor was this explained in the JA-Quillaja documentation.
I tried to download the JA-News documentation from the link provided on the site http://www.joomlart.com/downloads/cat/joomlart_club_extensions/ja_news/ja_news_1.1.3.html and got an error <blockquote>This location is for paid members only. Join JA Templates Club to download. The following members can download: Developer,JA Extension Club</blockquote>
(Note: I was logged in as a Club Member at the time.)
I emailed Joomlart and asked them for help obtaining the documentation. They did send it, and it is explained in the JA-News documentation. Unfortunately I did not receive this until after I had spent several hours figuring this out.
I hope this helps someone else at some point and saves them the time I spent trying to get this to work as intended.

November 2, 2007 at 2:49 am #231972Thank you, cnwz.
For the download link, could you download the extension? I guess that your session is lost when going to the address. You may need relogin and it will work.
November 2, 2007 at 5:39 pm #232010Yes, we had no trouble downloading the extension.
November 9, 2007 at 7:33 am #232516I tried going from your link in the post… logging in again, then going to the club extensions page and it still wouldnt allow me to download that documentation…
April 24, 2008 at 7:28 am #246659I just upgrade to 1.5. I set all to 0 but my headline is still below the black line with home on top

This really helped until I tried checking my site in Firefox. For some reason, I still get the article showing up as a frontpage article and the headline article for janews… can anyone help??
