My Joomla 2.5/JA Wall site experiences quite substantial fluctuations in visitor numbers. One day there are only a few hundred visitors (according to Alexa and Google Analytics) some days there are thousands. On days with heavier loads the site often starts playing up: Modules aren’t loaded or the site creates http error pages. I’ve seen other sites such as WordPress and Reddit produce a nice ‘sorry but our site is under very heavy load right now, please come back later’ page. How can I do that with my site?

    Hi andrewwinkler,

As I know Joomla don’t have such system to put the overload warning yet.

    Regards,

I found a solution outside of Joomla. I designed my own humorous ‘error 500’ page and entered it in the ‘custom error pages’ control panel of the site, including refresh and donation link. 🙂
