    Hello-

I joined the Joomla template club last night, because I wanted the JA_Anion template. However, I was not able to install it once I downloaded it. I kept getting an error message. I was able to successfully install the droid template, but this is not the template that i want. Can someone please help me install the ja_anion template?:((

How far did you get through the install? I presume you know what you’re doing – since you got Droid to work. So i’m guessing that either the error occurred during the install or just after the install?

The fix will depend on the type of error message and when you see the error message. Can you provide this information?

I got error messages when I installed anion. The install worked fine, and then I deleted the installation directory and when I went to the site it looked wrong. There were a number of error messages cascading down the page – but I could see the template – it’s just there were lots of error messages and the slideshow was missing.

So, I first of all made sure that all the directories and what not were assigned the correct ownership for group id and user id. Next, I changed the director permissions. In the admin area there is a navogation at the top of the page and you can go to HELP –> SYSTEM INFO from there you can click something like DIRECTORY PERMISSIONS and there will be a list of 10-20 directories and whether they are writable (green) or non-writable (text in red). I made all of these directories writable and it worked.

Hello. Thanks for the reply. The problem is that the template will not install at all. When I select the template zip file for installation, I get the following error message: “The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
The script had an error or it did not produce any output. If there was an error, you should be able to see it in the error log. ” I have no idea where to view the error log. Ideas? Could you log in and take a look?

That would seem to be a web-server issue. What hosting company are you using – do they have good technical support?

Looking at the difference in file size between Droid (10.5MB) and Anion (30.4MB) I can’t help but wonder whether this might be the problem??

As a solution – and I know it’s not ideal – you could always try installing Droid using the quick start package and then installing the Anion template (not quickstart but template) and that might just work for you as quick as anything else.

I use fatcow. I was on with their technical support, and they said it was an issue with the template, not with the server. The only problem with installing the quickstart version is that it will wipe out my web content. I have already created a significant amount of content and menus that I would rather not lose. Thoughts?

    And another thing –

I tried the following workaround – I went into my ftp site on my laptop and added the anion template to my local site. Then I uploaded the whole file to the remote site (using dreamweaver). This ALMOST worked perfectly. The template showed up, but there was some functionality missing. When you upload the zip file, is there code that sends the files into different directories?

Ah – then you know more than me – for I have never tried doing this.

And eeing as you were using the template and not quick start, I dont think file size would be the issue – as both droid and anion are only about 1MB each.

One thing did occur – a new anion template was released today 1.2.2 – perhaps you’d have better luck with 1.2.1? You could then upgrade to 1.2.2 using the Ja Extension Manager as and when 1.2.2 is sorted out – assuming it has some issues with the new release.

Well, I tried to install 1.2.1 last night. 1.2.2 was just released today. I tried to install that too. Neither one will work.

I pressed the report button to let the joomlart guys know about this. It must be frustrating, but hope you can get it sorted soon.

I’d be inclined to think that your server company might be able to help more – especially if they can have a look at your error log and interpret what the real problem seems to be.

Thanks for your assistance. I ended up installing it through a directory. I installed the package in Dreamweaver and then posted it through ftp to the joomla site. Seems to be working fine.

I had the same issue at ipage, and here is how I got around it (which was suggested by another user in another post I believe). I used and FTP client to upload the file to my Joomla tmp folder. I then used the “install from directory” option and pointed it to the tmp folder. That worked fine for me. Maybe this is some sort of size limitation…or a time-out of some sort. Hope this post helps someone.
