December 13, 2010 at 8:21 am #157373Hi guys,
I have a BIG PROBLEM, I have been working on a site for a newspaper for sometime already and suddenly when I tried to install another version of my site for testing inside another database in the same domain, my site LOST all the changes I have made! now I dont know how to retrieve all the customizations I had done to it. Please help me! Im not very familiar with joomla yet.
Do you guys think that everything happens because I tried to work on both databases at the same time?
I checked some of the changes I made to the template.css and are still there, I had added some modules and are still on the root foldes of the side but dont show on the joomla backend. I also had added an advertising block on top of the logo, the block seems to be there (because I cheked the layout settings) still but it does not show. I never bucked my site up.
Any advice on this?
Thanks in advance :((

December 13, 2010 at 8:37 am #366514Without seeing it it is hard to say what you may have done. You may have worked on the wrong database at some point, you may have worked on the wrong files at some point. There really is no simple way of finding out. If you have no backup then speak toyour host and see if they do. Some hosts take backups some do not.
Try looking at your site in a different browser first just to make sure it isn’t your browsers cache or some cookies muddled up.

December 13, 2010 at 10:20 am #366532Phill Thanks for replying, I dont understand what happend, Im sure i was not working on the database affected. The other thing is that I had uploaded some modules which are still on the files but I cant have access to them through the administrator.
For instance I tried to install the extplorer component but I did not let me because it said that the component already existed. That means that not everything is lost, but how do I get back to where I was??Does anybody want to take a look at my code? :((

December 13, 2010 at 10:55 am #366537I really think in this case you should speak to your host to see if they have a backup.
