    I enlisted the help of a freelancer (at joomlances.com) to modify the JA Utahia II template to align with the color palette of my company. They did a pretty good job – but the margins are now hosed. The width goes out to the very edge and looks – well – crappy! The freelancer refuses to fix it stating – “your requested changes are beyond the scope of the project”.

    I’ve loaded the template here -> http://www.groundschool.org/scc

    Any advice or help on getting the margins under control would be greatly appreciated.

    Isn’t there a review system at joomlancers? And isn’t it set up so that you don’t pay until you are happy with the work?
    I suggest you hold back payment untill they fix the problem they caused.

    well…yes – chalked this one up as a bad lesson learned. I didn’t use the escrow system for this.

    Well at least you’ve learned your lesson.;)
    PM Menalto, he is very good with css, and I’m sure he could use a few extra bucks.

    Moderators are allowed to offer services for payment? I didn’t know this was a benefit of volunteering.

    Don’t get me wrong Menalto. I think that you should. But when they were first asking for voluteers I PMed Hung and MiCCAS and Hung chose not to respond as usual but MiCCAS said he really didn’t think there was much I could expect in return for volunteering. ShannonN said I might get fame and glory and possibly a developer membership but that was about it. There are many who have offered something in PM’s to me but I thought that I would get banned or something if I were to do that. This has now got me considering applying to be a volunteer as there is a benefit of possibly making a few extra dollars fixing up someones mess. I think this would be considered a benefit for helping out more and would probably keep me from making some posts that I have made regarding all the support stuff that I tend to complain about. I really think that this is a win, win relationship for JA and you guys.

    Menalto does plenty of voulenteer work here, as I do. There is nothing in the rules saying that we can’t make a few bucks bailing out botched instalations, etc. Our jobs as moderaters is to help out with template related questions, and to keep the forum clean and tidy, etc. And that’s what we do.

    Menalto is being paid to fix another developers mess. The poster paid someone to screw up his template, which Menalto will have to put lot’s of time into in order to fix. He should be compensated for his efforts.

    There is nothing stopping you from offering paid services to people who want custom work, etc. And you don’t need to be a moderator to do it, as long as you are not offering paid support for general template related questions. That is one reason there are 3 forums devoted exclusivly to paid mods etc. If you want to make a few bucks doing custom work, there are always new posts in those forums.

    As for the rest of the forums, feel free to ask anyone to PM you if they want paid work done.
