I successfully installed the demo package
    http://www.toucandesign.net/joomla25/

I upgraded my current Joomla install from 1.5.26 to 2.5.6 and installed JA Lens 1.0.3
    http://www.toucandesign.net/jupgrade/

I have gone through every module & plugin setting, copying it over to the new http://www.toucandesign.net/jupgrade/ install but can not for the life of me get the Grid Layout to appear on the home page.

I’ve followed http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/joomla-2-5-userguide-ja-lens-template/ to the best of my ability as well.

Any advice and direction to get the Grid to appear on the home page would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Toucandesign
Go to Backend > template manager > click to Options button > enable preview module positions
Then go to http://www.toucandesign.net/jupgrade/?tp=1 get grid of template

    Thanks for the direction Hero.

I understand how to see module positions in Joomla. I have attached a screen grab of both the visual of the module postions via “?tp=1” and the positions shown when searching “K2” in the module manager. I still do not see the “Grid” as in the demo site.

The screen grab above didn’t grab all the positions correctly the first time. Here is the grab with full content.

I finally solved this by selecting only one category in the menu manager:
Main Menu > Home > Basic Options (you can see correct vs. incorrect below where 1 category is highlighted in blue vs. all categories).

Is it not possible to have more than one K2 Category display on one page? Hope this helps someone as it took me days to figure this out.

    Hi Hero

I see you marked this thread solved prior to answering my question. Can you please tell me:

Is it possible to have more than one K2 Categories display on one page via the menu described above?

I think I figured it out and am posting for anyone in the same bind. Hero if you can confirm?

I made all the categories I wanted to display as a sub category from the main and selected only the main category, in this case, graphic design. Please see the below screen grabs. For this example, I just repeated the content (race cars) so don’t let that throw you off. I will then go back and replace all those with new content as I now move to development.

Categories in Menu Manager: Menu Items > Home

    K2 Categories

    K2 Items

Front End with all sub categories displayed

its a great template once you get everything configured correctly.

    Hi toucandesign,

With k2 category, you must check menu setting, category parameters, k2 category layout configuration and layout override if you want to modify somewhere.

I am still having issues with configuration creating the home page to look like this if I click the home page once the site loads:

Can you please supply a screen grab of the configuration of the HOME menu in the above image please? I can not find this in any tutorial. With my current configuration, once I click home, the page changes. Thanks!

Perhaps these grabs will help in what I am asking.

When I load the site, this is displayed:

If I click the HOME menu (configuration below)

    this is displayed

although the menu is configured exactly like my test site which does not do this. The only difference is the test site is 1.0.2 and the site with issue is 1.0.3 (which I then installed 1.0.4, same issue).

    test site:
    http://www.toucandesign.net/joomla25

    production site with issue:
    http://www.toucandesign.net/jupgrade

Please give me direction what might be configured incorrectly.

    Hi Toucandesign,

Please follow up with the thread http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/ja-lens-template-for-joomla-2-5-userguide-2/
I hope that can help you solve the configuration of layout

    Thanks Hero

I have been following the link you suggested for configuration.

Is there specific screen grabs for this layout you can point out:

As the tutorial seems to only discuss this layout:

    1. grid
    2. slideshow

Can someone please post a correctly configured HOME menu from the “Menu Manager: Edit Menu Item” which show all the correct configuration in the Admin? There doesn’t seem to be a screen grab of this anywhere.

    thanks in advance 🙂

    Hi Toucandesign
Please create a new site via our demo builder and you can compare demo settings with yours.

As I said at the start of this thread, that is what I did, copying all the settings.

I also recently found this thread
    http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/where-to-decide-the-number-of-news-to-show-in-fronpage/
    with these settings
    http://www.joomlart.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=21067&d=1336420538

and I still get this view

when clicking the home button. If I wait (I haven’t figured out the exact time yet, but like a few minutes, and refresh) the site goes back to this:

Any direction would be helpful as I have been working on this for quite a while now.
