    i have set the width in the backend to 960px … i went in the layout.css and knocked the padding for the left and right to 0 ( line 32, 33 ) so the header would line up…

    now of course the margin in the main content area to the left is messed up– see the screenshot…i have added a 4px border on the left and right of the header, menu, content area, botsl and footer..

    any ideas what i am doing wrong…. the site is on a local install for now..

    i went in and adjusted/ increased the border on the left since the right didnt have a border and that took care of the alignment…

    please let me know about the column background question..
