I am trying to get rid of the black screen while the video is loading. Can I host the video displayed on Hero Type 4 on our own server instead of Youtube or Vimeo? Thank you~

As I suggested here it’s from the video player when the video is loading.
You can not change the loading state, its support youtube and Vimeo videos only.
You need to do custom work in acm/hero/tmpl/style-4.php to support local video.
Or you can use custom html module to load the video from local in an iframe.
