You can simply add the banner image in your custom html module and publish it .
see how the code is currently defined its custom html code .

I’m not following, i want to to make multiple banners part of the cms so it can be changed regularly, i’m wanting to have several rotating (slide show) if using banners module what code do i have to put in the custom.css to have the banner module display in the hero section?

Hi You can add in div classes . Total size of container is span12 divide it in 3 parts . Example :

<div class="span12">

<div class="span4">
.....
</div>

<div class="span4">
..............
</div>

<div class="span4">
..........
</div>

</div>

Add images code in …………. in the code .

I do not understand how u want to place multiple slideshow ?
If you want to use slideshow you can take a look on JA Slideshow module .
