Ok, so how could I hide the top menu on the first link in my main menu(the home page)? I am thinking I may have to convert the space to a module position then assign the top menu to that position and then just hide it on the mainmenu Home option… any thoughts or a quick way to do the above.

try what you said there and tell us how it is going, i guess it would be an easy fix

Converting the space to a module position as you described is surely one option. Another is to wrap the whole menu code block in a conditional statement to show on every page but the homepage. This looks easier to me, because I suppose you will not change this situation often, will you?

One more question: Do you plan to remove the top menu on the frontpage while retaining the space it used? My solution above does easily remove the top menu together with this space, but this has the disadvantage of getting a site that seems to jump a liitle bit when going from frontpage (without menu) to another page (with menu). If you want to retain the space you have to place the conditional statement accordingly.
