March 23, 2009 at 3:01 am #139472Am trying to change the title meta tag on my home page for SEO. For some reason the template(?) – JA Barite 1.3 – inserts the site’s business name at the beginning of the home page title – I don’t know why and don’t know where it is coming from!!! The rest of the title is coming from the Home menu Page Title, as expected. But why & where does it get the business name:confused:
Other page titles are correct. I have duplicated the site onto a test site, where I have upgraded to Joomla1.5.9 but I still the same problem.
Another clue, is that the business name is the author name for admin, so perhaps it is coming from the Author name somewhere ???

March 23, 2009 at 7:01 am #297397Site is ecoastmusic.com.au – (in Australia). Am trying to optimise the keyword phrase ‘Brisbane Kindermusik’ and would like that to be the meta tag title for the home page.

Thanks for taking the trouble to look! As you can see, the title says “East Coast Music Kindermusik Brisbane”. The problem is “East Coast Music” should not be at the beginning of the title tag. It should be:
<title>Kindermusik Brisbane</title>When I edit my Main Menu via Menu Manager, and edit the Home item, it has “Brisbane Kindermusik” for the page title (under Parameter System). So when the Home page is displayed, somehow some piece of code is mysteriously inserting “East Coast Music” at the beginning:confused:

March 23, 2009 at 7:42 am #297402That “East Coast Music” is your Site name. You can change that from your global configurations. Check the screenshot below. In the site name put “Kindermusik Brisbane” and check again. If it shows double, then you may omit the site name from the global configuration, although thats not recommended.
Let us know if this helps.

March 23, 2009 at 8:00 am #297404I thought of that, but no, “East Coast Music” is not the site name. The site name is ‘ecoastmusic.com.au’. (I would include an image to show you, but I haven’t worked out how!:(()
Please believe me, “East Coast Music” is not the site name. But it is the admin user’s name:confused:

You are brilliant. The answer was in the SEOSimple plugin that I installed over a week ago & promptly forgot that I had specified the front page title myself in the plugin parameters:((Thanks for the wonderful support!:D

March 23, 2009 at 9:09 pm #297522Glad to help. I am no joomlart support member, nor am i Joomla Pro, i have learned from my mistakes. I had thrown joomla away so many times in my early days. crashed so many of my earlier demo sites trying out stuff, the only thing that i consider most important is to take a complete backup before trying anything new. It saves you the mental harrassment, guilty and frustation.
regards
arvind
