I have run into a strange and baffling problem with a big Joomla 3.1 site we are building. Here’s the ssue: The default home click works beautifully for public visitors. All looks great. But, when you log in as a registered member or administrator, the home page vanishes and is replaced by an article seemingly grabbed at random. It’s the same article all the time. It’s not uncategorized; it’s in a proper category. Neither is it featured. I didn’t input the link to this article anywhere in the menu params. All inside pages are fine. Firebug isn’t very helpful. I have no clue why this particular article is replacing the publicly visible homepage. I’ve tried unpublishing the article; no effect.
Some Joomla posts seemed to suggest configuring the default home click to show featured articles. But that doesn’t work either. Creating a new home click and making it default doesn’t work either. There just seems to be no way to show the homepage to registered users. In registered view, the click also won’t show Featured articles. I thought it might be a user permission issue but all those settings look fine and are the same as I have always used. I made sure that registered users have permission to view any click configured as public.
I’ve been poking around numerous forums but haven’t found anyone else who had this strange problem.
Any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

It’s not a bug, just about configuration.
With JA Login, if you want to automatically return to homepage after user logins your site, you need set “Login Redirection Page” as “Home page”.

February 5, 2014 at 4:56 pm #521354Thanks for the tip. But it turned out to be something else, completely unexpected. A plugin was redirecting the logins to a custom homepage for registered users. It’s a really a nice option for a membership website like this one, but we didn’t know it was there and turned on. So, if anyone else has this problem going foward, look through your plugins and filter by “register.” That’s how we discovered the solution.
