We have experiencing problems with ordering the top horizontal menu. The problem was already there with Joomla 1.6 and Joomla 1.7.
We have just installed Methys 1.7 Quickstart and the problem also is there.
In the top horizontal top menu with sample data you have 5 menu items: Home, Explore, About Joomla!, Category List and Our Blog. When you access the menu, Home have an ordering number 1 and you can bring it down with the down arrow. Explore has an ordering number 2 and you can only bring it up with the up arrow, does not have a down arrow although it has menu items below it.
About Joomla! has again an ordering number 1 and you can only bring it down with the down arrow althoug it has menu items above it. Category List has an ordering number 2 and can bring it up or down with the arrows. Our Blog has an ordering number 3 and you can bring it up with the up arrow.
In resume, the main menu seems to be split in two independent separate sections.
Could you please look at the issue and give a feedback as it seems some bug there.
Thanks in advance.pavit Moderatorpavit

October 5, 2011 at 10:01 am #416990Hi,
Thanks for response
I have looked more deeply in
to the issue and found that it may be a problem with Joomla itself and not with the template. If you look at the Main Menu with the Display # of items set say to 20 as the default you get the problem I described above, but if you change the number say to 100 to see all the menu items in one screen suddenly the problem dissapears and you do not see anymore this kind of split menu in the ordering,
This issue was not present in Joomla 1.5, there, even if you have a long menu and set the Display # to say 20, you could order any of the items sending it up or below all along the menu in any of the menu pages. But in Joomla 1.6 and 1.7, if the menu is too long and you set the Display # to a low number so that you only see the menu partially in one page, you get this kind of split menu behaviour explained above.
Probably then it is a kind of bug that has to be reported to Joomla developers.
