    Please help,

This site is a live production site with frontpage organic search results for many terms. They are a resort/marina in the Florida Keys.

This morning 8:15 AM EST Hostgator shuts my site down, it is on one of my VPS servers at Hostgator. The site has been online on my VPS since July 2012 and not much has changed except updates to plugins, system, and components.

Hostgator support is telling me that I should turn on system cache, which I did, but the site is still publicly not accessible but I believe /administrator can be accessed by anyone. I have included all access and passwords on the top of this post for Joomlart support personnel.

Please help asap, the site needs to be live again as soon as possible.

    Thank you for your time.

At approximately 2:30 PM EST Hostgator lifted the restriction on the site at CoconutCay.com, after I wasted much time on the phone with them. I still do not know what on that site caused excessive server utilization. If someone can help me to figure out how to maximize this sites performance I will be in your debt.

I have two VPS servers that are optimized for all Joomla sites as well as JA Wall. I am using JA Wall on at least one other site.

    Please advise.

    Thanks for your time.

Only host gator can tell you why. Usually if your site is a busy one and it is close to the load your host has decided is your limit they will try and push you towards a higher level package. When that happens it is rarely because of the site though cache ing can help but simply because you are very popular. That is one reason cloud hosting like http://bigv.io/ are becoming so popular because you can be flexible with your requirements.

LEAVE HOSTGATOR! I run Digitalsmind.com and they are the WORST when it comes to hosting. Those… idiots (since I cannot swear here)… have NO IDEA what they are doing! They not only shut me down for the exact same reason as you, they refused to lift my ban unless I upgraded to a ‘better hosting package’. I had to battle with them for 5 days just to get back to my site so I could move it to a new sever (which has been fantastic by the way, but I am not here to pimp them).

Basically, I had a sudden rush of visitors, and then they went away. Hostgator took that as a breach of there resource policy and as I mentioned held my site ‘hostage’ for 5 days. They literally drove me to drink. Simply put, Hostgator has NO IDEA how to manage VPS servers. I truly believe trained monkeys could do a better job. No joke…

OMG… the simple mention of Hostgator makes we want to down a 5th.

I had the same problem (http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/ja-wall-consumes-too-many-resources/#post-462038) and solved with https://www.cloudflare.com/ 🙂
My site is super fast now
I am using the free plan
