I tried to find the code or to find where I can change the video source. Does this module accept a youtube search for a certain keyword?

    Hi

I was also looking to change the source content so I followed the instructions provided by your helpful link but I’m still unable to save a link to a new video. I can embed new code and preview in module manager but when I go to save it won’t save.

At this point I just wanted to get the module working as it was previously. How can I reinstall that module as per demo? is that possible.

    Many thanks

if it is JA module tthat was installed after template then default settings are there when you uninstall the module and reinstall it again.

if it is a module that was preinstalled then tough luck mate you will have to experiment on it or reinstall the quickstart 🙂

Nah, it is all very simple. The Hot Video module demo’d in the template is just a simple custom HTML module with an iFrame put in it. Due to the way TinyMCE works you cannot often see the code unless you select “No Editor in the backend of Jomla. As an iFrame is not the best way to embed video and not the easiest what I suggest is you create a module of your own using the fantastic All Videos Reloaded plugin available from the JED here – http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/multimedia/multimedia-players/video-players-a-gallery/3955

It will add a nice new button to your editor allowing you to add videos from almost any source (local and remote) with just a click or two. It even supports a nice lightbox. I contacted Fritz a couple of weeks back and he is currently working on a J1.6 version with loads of new features. I’ve been using it for a while now and have added a few video providers myself, it is all quite simple.

    Hi

Thanks for the responses so far bit i’m still having problems. I’m very much new to all this so please bear with me.

Phil – if I wanted to embed a youtube video are you saying I should

1 – turn off the editor for my user
2 – paste the embed code into the text field

    <iframe title=”YouTube video player” class=”youtube-player” type=”text/html” width=”640″ height=”390″ src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/tKFWUsnm-jo” frameborder=”0″ allowFullScreen></iframe>

    3 Save

Basically what happens to me is that the code gets stripped out. From doing some research around this seems to be an issue with Joomla 1.6.

I guess I’ll have to wait for All Videos or other to be released on 1.6 ?

Sorry, I wasn’t aware you were using J1.6. AV reloaded is being updated for 1.6 but I do not know how long it will take.

With your code getting stripped you mist switch off the editor from the global settings first. Just switching from within the article manager will still leave Tiny stripping your code.

Me? I would wait until all the extensions I regularly use are available for 1.6. I reckon no more than a couple of months most of the good ones will be available.

    Hi Phil

Took your advice and now using J1.5 version as I’m reliant on K2 and other extensions and not sure when they’re being released and need to be developing now.

J1.5 version also seems a lot quicker.

Re video though I did also try switching the editor off on global settings as well and that didn’t work either.

Anyway J1.5 version with AllVideos will work just fine now 🙂
