Hello, Please how can I make the width of ja_Rochea to be fluid so that the width will remain the same no matter the screen resolution? I tried the auto option on index.php but its not working. Is there any other thing I need to do? Do I need to add anything to the css? Please let me know what to do cause I dont like it in 800/600 and wide is too much for ppl with small screen res. Thanks

Firstly a fluid site is never the same width hence the name fluid, it shrinks and expands to suit the screen its displayed on, most ppl out there do not have any screen set smaller than 800×600 some old grannies with windows 3.1 on a 12 inch monitor may view at 640 x 480 but they are hardly the mainstream web audience.
If you can’t handle 800×600 change your screen res to 1024 x768 select auto and it should exand to about 98% of the available viewing area
July 10, 2007 at 6:29 am #223900Hi Shannon, thanks for the reply. However, the issue here is that I set the width to auto in index.php but its not reflecting. I believe that if its set to auto, it should fit the screen regardless if the screen is set to 1024/768 or 800/600 ? But when I check it with the screen res. set to 1024×768 , I would need to scroll the screen to see the whole content. So thats why I asked if there is something else I should add. Could it be a cacheing issue that is making it not reflect on my screen? (am new to all this).
Thanx

July 10, 2007 at 7:16 am #223901If you gonna make this template fluid you need to do some major changes in the template. As this does not support fluid with.
Only 800*600 and 1024*768.
If im wrong can someone please correct me, if im right you can give me a PM if you need it to be fluidJuly 10, 2007 at 10:13 pm #223948Hi Menalto, Pls how can I achieve it? I really need to be fluid. I sent u a PM
July 11, 2007 at 10:48 pm #224021Hello Joomlart designers, anyone, pls I can see that ja-wistery has options for setting the width to auto for fuid resolution. Is there no way you can pleeeese give someone a code or codes to use to make the ja-Rochea like that? I added a .auto ja-wrapper code with 95% width to the template css file but it doesnt work. When I add auto in index.php config. I tried makine the ja-wrapper 95% width and it actually expanded but the other sections like the left and right module sides are being disfigured and pushed down. This is where my knowledge ends. Can someone fashion out a solution with this? How to make the side modules and other sections of the site line up if I make the ja-wrapper 95% width.
IMHO , I think templates with fluid/auto width options are a must.ErikThorsen FriendErikThorsen

July 12, 2007 at 7:19 am #224043There are about 100 different reasons why a site/template might not be fluid ( or at least difficult to make fluid ) Anything is possible, all it takes is programming hours.
You need to take into consideration that this might take many, many hours to get done. If they should create it fluid, would you be willin to let everyone pay 20% more to get this done?
I am just saying this as we pay a ridiculous small amount of money compared to what we get back. Naturally we can’t get it the way we want. That is the reason why you have coders/programmers who can help out when needed. Of course, they would need payment for their services but so would you, right?
If someone needs to spend 10 hours or 5 or 25 hours doing this, they would naturally want to get paid, right. Ok, enough rantering from me. I just sometimes feel that we are asking too much from a simple template.
Perhaps a solution could be “pro support membership”. A place where you can get almost any support questions answered and you pay something like 100 or 200 USD per month. That way anyone with lots of questions could join here and pay what it costs to get stuff fixed?
Templates are one thing and “basic” support on them as well. However, more advanced support should be a paid service in my opinion.
good luck on getting the site fluid. I know it is possible to get done but you would need to modify a few lines of code to get it done I think. Unless JA team have a lot of spare time in between designing the new templates.
