You can go to admin >> menus >> main menu >> home

Set in page title to no in parameters (system)

    I’m using Joomla 1.6.2, I don’t see this parameter.

As you are using J 1.6, The same update can be done by going to ::

admin >> menus >> main menu >> home

Set in Show Page Heading to no in page display options

So then changing the “Welcome to the frontpage” message should be just putting a different name in the Parameters (system) “Page Title” field correct? And if I do that and clear my cache, and it still shows “Welcome to the front page”, then what am I missing?

I have exactly the same problem. No way to get rid of the “Welcome to the front page” message. :((

This is by no means a solved issue and should be moved out of this category.
I have created a new “home” menu item and set it as the default home item and modified the page display options. I’ve cleaned the cache and refreshed my browser hundreds of times, but still the same “welcome to the frontpage” message. I’m using Joomla 1.7. Can anyone please help?

    Hi,
Could you give me a link to your website?

Okay, I found the problem and the resolution. It is not in the template, but rather the plg_system_jat3.v1.2.3. When I unzipped this plug in the ‘Welcome’ message can be set in the file en-GB.plg_system_jat3 which is in the first level of the unzipped package. I then uninstalled the plugin from my site, zipped up the plugin with the altered ‘en-GB.plg_system_jat3’ file and then installed that one. It worked and it changed my ‘Welcome to Frontpage’ to the option I chose.

I am surprised that no one knew this. I believe this issue is now solved.

I”m kinda suprised its hard coded.. ty for that.. I”ll pass it on to dev’s but just so you know if you use a program like extplorer http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/core-enhancements/file-management/2630?qh=YToxOntpOjA7czo5OiJleHRwbG9yZXIiO30%3D you can edit it right from within joomla admin. Also we released a update to commuinity+ today

I could not find the file in the ‘heirachy’, but I suspected it was in that plugin because I had replaced the template and the joomla core and that didn’t fix the problem. If I hadn’t just recently downloaded the plugin, I probably wouldn’t have tried it, but I started there and luckily that was exactly where it was.

    Dear all,

For Joomla 1.5 please do the following step:

Menus > Main Menu > Home > Parameters (System):
Page Title: Welcome to the Frontpage <==== Please change this title to what you would like to or leave it blank and it will get title from Site > Global Configuration > Site Name.

    For Joomla 1.6:

Menus > Main Menu > Home > Page Display Options:
Browser Page Title: …………….<===== Do the same as 1.5, if leave it blank it will get title from ” Menu Title * ”

    Hope this would help.
    Regards.
