PS: And will it work if I position this newsticker just above or underneath the adverstising (the ad wich stands on top of the page (of the demo)?

Hi
Module will work anywhere in the template where the module position present . You can install the module and publish it .
For publish the module in header you need to check it after published in the default position present in the template . Header is using a different design in this template so you can also create new position in header and publish the module , depends on your choices .
