Hello I get them message printed on the right hand side of my home page.
Warning: Call-time pass-by-reference has been deprecated; If you would like to pass it by reference, modify the declaration of [runtime function name](). If you would like to enable call-time pass-by-reference, you can set allow_call_time_pass_reference to true in your INI file in /home/fhlinux145/p/poisonuk.com/user/htdocs/joomla/modules/mod_jatabs/helper.php on line 129
I am a bit confused as to which INI file that it is suggesting that I manipulate. Can someone please tell me how to make this go away as it is messing up the presentation of my screen.
Thanks.

April 11, 2009 at 3:16 pm #300944It depends on your host as you might not have permissions to do it.
You could just create a custom php.ini file and put those details in, again this will only work if your host allows.
Take a look at this thread for some info on finding your php.ini file and seeing what is in ther. There are also some details on creating your own.

April 11, 2009 at 4:23 pm #300949I have looked at the link above and have spoken to my web host. Unfortunately I am on a shared system and they do not allow access to the php.ini file and will not tell me where to put a local copy as they do not support it. They are called fasthosts, a very un-helpful bunch.
It there any workaround? My main issue is that the error is displayed on the upper right side of the home page just below the slide show. Is there some module that I can turn off to avoid the message showing up?
April 11, 2009 at 4:28 pm #300950Problem slightly averted as I have turned off JA_Tabs which I did not really need and that solved the disply message issue. Not sure which other modules use these params in the future. So I would still like to resolve it. Perhaps I may have to move to a dedicated server. Kind of a bizzare reason.

April 11, 2009 at 4:29 pm #300951Try adding this in your .htaccess file. It may currently be called htacces.txt in your joomla root. Rename it to .htaccess if you haven’t already done so.
php_flag allow_call_time_pass_reference 1
And yes, I know how bad fasthosts can be.
If you are happy to use a UK based server try http://www.bytemark.co.uk I cannot recommend them highly enough
April 11, 2009 at 4:56 pm #300956oooooooh it did not like that at all. 🙂 Lost the site as soon as I made the change. I have also tried commenting out all other items in the htaccess.txt file then renaming it .htaccess with only ‘php_flag allow_call_time_pass_reference 1’ and it still lost sanity until I killed the .htaccess file.
This is bringing me back to my programming and unix days in the early eighties. lol.
