It looks like this:

In the articles manger options, I have selected Show Author: No. In category and under the menu it is set to Global. But ‘written by’ is still there. How do I get rid of it?

Hi regin,

The are three places to configure the “Show author” option on Joomla articles. The first is in the Article Options tab of Joomla article backend & menu item configurations. The rest is in Content >> Article Manager >> Options (Top right button) >> Articles tab. Make sure that you set “Hide” to “Show Author” in all of these places.

* If the Show author option is set with “Use global” in Joomla article backend & menu item configurations before, you just need to set Hide in Article Managers >> Options >> Articles only then.

You can do that as same Leo Burnetts suggested, when your site is loaded, it will take precedence settings of menu item over settings in 2 remained places.

Hence, kindly check the menu item that article or category that article belongs to > Article Options tabs->Show Author set No

+ Also check In Article Manager -> Each Articles -> Show Author set to No
