    1. download the quickstart file to your local pc.

    2. extract the quickstart zip on a folder on your local machine so you can see all files and folders (like administrator/modules/installation etc)

    3. Upload all those files in the folder to your webhost using a FTP client of your liking. Upload it into the folder where you want your joomla installation. Usually this is the root of your webhost.

    4. Wait till the upload is finished depending on the ftp client you use this can take a while.

    5. When upload if finished you can start the installation by going to: http://www.yourdomainnamehere.nl/installation/index.php.

    6. Follow all steps of the joomla installation and make sure you INSTALL SAMPLE DATA, this will fill your installation with demo content.

    7. The last step of the installation is removing the actuall installation folder on your webhost.
After you removed the installation folder is deleted go to your domain name http://www.yourdomainnamehere.nl and you should have an exact copy of the demo website

So in short what is a quickstart:
A quickstart is a complete new joomla installation with the template + all needed modules for the template + all required settings for the tempalte in one.

First off thank you for your response very indepth.

If you dont mind i will ask these questions because as a newbie it is slightly above my head.

    You said.

    1. download the quickstart file to your local pc.

So i download the JA Teline II for joomla 1.5 : Quickstart included Joomla! 1.5.9 + Template, Extensions installation packages (10.77 MB) file located here http://www.joomlart.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=70

Open it up and extract the Quickstart zip located within the the main zip.Yes?

    2. extract the quickstart zip on a folder on your local machine so you can see all files and folders (like administrator/modules/installation etc)

So i extract all the files out of the quickstart zip and place them in a folder should it have a specific name?

    3. Upload all those files in the folder to your webhost using a FTP client of your liking.

I use Cpanel ( control panel ) do i goto the public ftp?

Upload it into the folder where you want your joomla installation. Usually this is the root of your webhost.

I dont know what you mean by your joomla installation are you saying i should reinstall joomla or are you refering to the quickstart zip.

Would i haveto have joomla installed, i am hosted by bluehost, with the cpanel which controls my website settings i have a program called fantastico deluxe which i used in a recent attempt to reinstall joomla 1.5 and try to erase my previous template installations.

I don’t know where my Joomla installation installed within cpanel, what would the root of the website be( example?) in regards to installing in cpanel. should i place the files in a named folder or should the files be loose.

:SSSS 3, mostly plus 4, and 5. /——- are the complicated areas!!!!!

    4. Wait till the upload is finished depending on the ftp client you use this can take a while.

How do i upload at this point — there has been issues when extracting where the file says something like inflating– and some say creating should i wait at this point for something to happen?

plus …..I have been able to upload the quickstart zip directly with cpanel and can unzip the files over there… if that is ok could you explain where abouts i will haveto place these files..

    5. When upload if finished you can start the installation by going to: http://www.yourdomainnamehere.nl/installation/index.php.

I was confused here to, when i pasted this url —> http://www.yourdomainnamehere.nl/installation/index.php. the title of the page read
Network Access Message: The website cannot be found

So i take it you mean that i should type part of my address into that url and goto that address
    example —

    msn.com/installation/index.php.

if i’m wrong please correct ….

    6. Follow all steps of the joomla installation and make sure you INSTALL SAMPLE DATA, this will fill your installation with demo content.

I dont know how i’m going to get to a point where this Joomla installation screen appears i may haveto ask you how to get this screen …… will this appear on my actual website — or in the cpanel where abouts will it appear?

    7. The last step of the installation is removing the actuall installation folder on your webhost.
After you removed the installation folder is deleted go to your domain name http://www.yourdomainnamehere.nl and you should have an exact copy of the demo website

Appoligies, but what do you mean by the actual installation folder? is this the installation folder that we extract to the root folder ie the extracted quickstart files or the quickstart zip or the entire folder itself? could you clarify.

Thankyou so far! i appoligise for the ammount of questions i feel its neccasary for everyone.
