Please i want to be able to redirect my users from the cart area after clicking checkout to a thank you page where all the delivery methods are clearly outlined, this is because virtuemart can not handle the delivery methods matrix i am trying to implement.

Could you tell me more details of how you want to achieve here? because by default, after checking out and confirm to purchase, it will direct you to a page with thanks message like this: http://i.imgur.com/5EgSYtz.png
