January 14, 2013 at 11:05 am #183962Hello,
I’m using JA Mers as the template for my wedding.
Its going to be a small site, I only need to have about five pages. As its my wedding, I don’t need the circular Mers logo in the menu bar.
And I don’t need the big drop-down menu that appears in the first position, or the home icon. So, I would like to remove them.
Also I would like to remove this small ‘house’ icon.I would really appreciate it if someone could please tell me how to:
1 – Remove the logo
2 – Remove the menu (under Menu)
3 – Remove the home (house) iconI have tried to do this myself but I ended up with the template becoming much wider for some reason I don’t understand…
ThanksPJ

January 14, 2013 at 3:56 pm #479667I should also point out that I initially installed the quickstart.. so I got all of the pages etc that come with that…
This is why I am now trying to cut things down to a small site… and remove all of the things I feel are not necessary. Thanks

January 15, 2013 at 8:26 am #479797Hello pjmealy,
You can remove “Home” icon as it default menu of site.
For remove logo, please open “/templates/ja_mers/css/template.css” file, line 782. Then add “display:none;” into “h1.logo” style.
For remove mega menu, you can unpublish it in Menu Manager of “Main menu” in back-end.
After that, modify “padding-left: 15px;” of “#ja-mainnav .main-inner4, #mainnav .main-inner4” style in “/templates/ja_mers/css/template.css” file, line 1162.
Regards.

January 15, 2013 at 4:31 pm #479879Hi Stork,
I did find those lines in the template.css and I did change them…
But what was really confusing is that the displayed page changed back after I edited the layout ( to change the text of the menu items)… When I looked at the page in firebug, the css was not the same as what was in the template.css.
I was really confused for a while .. but eventually I just reopened the template.css .. made a non-destructive edit (like, added a space and deleted it again) so I could re-save the template.css again …
Then, like magic, when I refreshed the page it was displayed with the changes to template.css.. and the logo was gone etc..
So there is something weird that goes on in the backend when you change the layout code.. its as if it caches the original template.css and reverts to it whenever the layout is changed…
So, my solution anyway, is to always change the template.css After changing the layout…
Maybe somebody can enlighten us about what appears to be a quirk in the T3 system…
Thanks again Stork for your help…
PJ
