I want to use the JA News module in a different JA template. I have tried to get it to work but with no success.

Are there other files/scripts that I need to include?

Please provide some instructions for me to make this work.

There is really little departure from the procedures you used in whatever original template it came with apart from the installation to a different template?

Let’s run by the process using the Teline user guide as a reference if you have Teline open the guide and follow along it saves me posting the screen shots etc. 🙂 if not download the Teline User Guide

Ok, First I’ll get you to download or use the actual Teline version of Ja – News module

Reading from the guide

“JA Teline is integrated with JA News module. Create ja-news position, then install and publish the module to this position.

JA News configuration

Disable Joomla original frontpage
Set the value of Leading and Intro to zero (0):

Config description:
JA News module consists two part as you see in the Demo. The first part of the module is JA Ajax Headline, which shows the latest frontpage news items in a rollover box. The second part is the other news classified by your categories. Here’s the full description.The rest refers to the settings panel screenshot

Show Headline: Determine whether the headline was showed.
Headline text: Title of the headline if showed.
Number of headline news: Number of items in the rollover box. These items is your latest frontpage items.
Headline fixed height: Fixed height of JA News Headline. Use it if your news intro have noticeable height to prevent flicks in your site.
Auto Roll: Set the rolling state for first time user.
Rolling delay time: Delay time of the roll between two items in rollover box (in seconds).

Other news part:
Category ID: Categories that your news items will be selected from, separated by commas. Leave it blank means all categories will be selected.
Link Items: Number of other items listed in each category.
Max Chars: Limit the number of characters in the showing item of each category.
Image Width: Fixed width of the image of news item.
Image Height: Fixed height of the image of news item.
Columns: Number of columns division.
Show Intro: Determine whether the intro text was showed.
Show Image: Determine whether the image was showed.

Hint: To know what id is your category, go to Content -> Category Manager and look at the Category ID column.
Make your news intro have the same length of text, it will make your module looks smoother.
Headline part:
You have the actual screenshots in the guide theres nothing more to it

If you have set it up as per the guide it must work unless the site is stuffed follow the guide and post back the results?

On Teline I have no problems is working fine on my localhost to test, what I need is try to setup the module on another template, I copy the css_news into the css folder , I copy the php script from teline index ( ja-news ), I created ja-news position, but still I think so I miss something, there is any javascript file link to this module or something else.

use the modify button and you’ll get a delete button wihin the panel etc add a reason for deletion so admins know why and your set
