May 28, 2009 at 6:03 pm #141506Hello,
I have a site where I am trying to place online a 55 volume series in history (about my country***), as one of the sections. Each volume will be assigned one category, so for the volumes alone there will be 55 categories in one section.. The drop down menu format will not work.
How do you create a Horizontal Magazine Menu Format?
Thanks.
Cornelio
N.B. I tried to search the forum, I think someone might have answered this before already but I cannot find the tspecific hread.
*** The Philippine Islands 1493-1898. Edited and annotated by Emma Helen Blair and James Alexander Robertson. Published (1903-1909)
There used to be PDF versions of some of these in Google Books in 2007, but it was not complete and there were so many critical errors in the digitization, and the actual text versions were not properly edited based from my initial browsing of some of the contents.]
When I did a Google search in 2007, it was difficult to find each volume (sometimes the volume indicated did not contain the correct content. However, as of 2009, I was not surprised that except for the three bibliography and indices volumes (Volume 52-55), most of the other volumes that detail the actual contents, are no longer in the Google Books online listing. Instead, most of the online results provide “commercial reprints” or derivative books, and the Google advertisements refer you to their availability online in Amazon and other online bookstores — not cheap at all. I don’t think many Filipinos can afford the 55-volume set at the price listed in Amazon.
It is possible actually that Google might have “blacklisted” my IP address. It can detect actually when I am viewing the pages of the ones available online. After a few pages, it tells you that it is no longer available to you, for browsing.

Thanks JA Developer,
I will send you the URL, or even post it here the moment it comes online again. My hosting service has migrated it to a new server and I have difficulty reconciling the DNS addresses when I try to use the unique DNS for the site, as opposed to the server DNS address.

Thanks JA Developer,
Sorry for the very delayed response. I had all sorts of technical troubles to deal with last month and this month. I was transferring my websites also to another server.
Here is the link to my
Teline II Sandbox 099
http://joomlart.bayanihan-saranay.org/jte15x099/index.phpThe Section:
The Philippine Islands
http://joomlart.bayanihan-saranay.org/jte15x099/the-philippine-islands.htmlhave 26 categories, In the actual website, there are actually 60 categories in the same section.
In a small screen, like a laptop computer, it is not possible to view all the categories in a drop-down (vertical) listing.
It is better if the categories are listed in a horizontal format. The script and procedure to select a horizontal format for the categories was provided in the original Teline (news template), in case you want to view the script.
I do not see that in the Teline II.

July 22, 2009 at 10:47 am #311799Hi cgc0202
For this case, i think you should use the split menu for your website.
It is the best in this case.cgc0202 Friendcgc0202

Can you please explain further? Will the splt menu make the categories horizontal?
Also, if the split menu makes the categories horizontal. how is it done?
Is there a procedure that I could follow to implement the split menu?
Thanks.

Hi JA Developer,
In the original Teline, there is a script where you simply chose options 1, 2, 3, etc, to specify whether you prefer the dropdown or the horizontal, or some other presentation.
Is a similar option in Teline II?
For that matter, I hope such option is in Teline III. If not, I hope they include those choices.
