In our site we did a separate joomla installation (sudirectory) for “news” in which we use JA WALL template.

In the front page of main installation there is section (Custom html modules) where we publish some of the current news.

We noticed that we open (pop up) an article/item (we use K2) the URL does not change to the respective urls of the article/item.
This happens only if we set to “no” menu item of the category but in this case we “break” the excellent view that news are presented in ja wall temp.

This is the only way also to “read” the URL of the article/item in order to set it in the “read more” area of the html module in the first page.

1. Is there any way we can “see” the URL of the articles/items without doing this?
2. can we set a link (front page) to an article/item without changing the popup view even if the link show the normal layout of the article?

Also, how we can choose which articles/items of different categories to show in JA wall front page

Thank u in advance!

main site is http://www.agorazoellinika.org

the “news” site (subdirectory) is http://www.agorazoellinika.org/nea/

You can link to the “news” by choosing the 4th of the main menu in the main site

As you can see in the bottom of the main site there are some “intro news”.
Those one we published them (k2 items) in the main site.
What we want is to link the news of the “news” (selectivly) we the front page of the main site (intro-news).

The pop up effect of Ja Wall does not let us read the link of the news (items)
We have to turn off the pop up in the item menu of the category which is a little bit complicated.

We did not try if the link from front page to an k2 item (news) works if we turn on the pop up effect of the specific category.

The question is ” how we can read the URL of an item/article in JA Wall temp and if we can apply links from the front page (or any page) of the main site (Puresite temp) to an item of JA Wall with the pop up effect on”

When I first read your post, I honestly have no idea what you are talking about. Now I’m still confused what you actually want.

But if both websites are sharing the same Joomla Installation, can’t you setup a IF parameter and grab item url with the code below?
<?php echo $this->item->link; ?>
I ll try to make simple :

1. How we can read the URL of an k2 item or joomla article in JA Wall template with the pop effect on?

If you select (“more”) one item/article of one category the URL is presented in the tab of the browser is the one of the category and not the one of the item/article!

2. If you want to publish a link in one website (any website) to a k2item or joomla article in JA Wall temp … how you do it?

In our case we have 2 different installations …. 2 different joomla… the second is dedicated to the “news” section using JA Wall template.

I hope now is more clear!

1) Because the article open within the pop up frame that url behavior you see is correct. But if you want to grab the url to the article, there’s three method. I’ll use Firefox as example since it’s the easiest method.

– Right click inside the pop up frame, go to This Frame->View Frame Info. There will see the full address of that article. Copy it. But it will contain ?tmpl=component in the url so I don’t know why you want that unless you want to include it in another iframe >_<

– Another method is to just right click on the article and open in a new tab. Now the article’s url will be exposed.

– Right click on “more” and copy link location.

2) Hmmm… copy and paste? I’m sorry, I really do not understand this. My understanding is you want to grab the link of an article and post it elsewhere which is just.. well copy and paste.
