I have a site where having a truly fixed overall width would be preferable. In fact in many sites, fixed width is preferable. WIth all of T3’s configurability, there must be a way to create a truly fixed width site, isn’t there?
Does the T3 Framework have any way to create a truly fixed width template?
We are using the JA Social Template and have found that the options for the specified width templates still do not create a truly FIXED width template, but that the template is still fluid, so that when the window size is reduced, it still remains the same width? It seems like no matter what the setting, T3 templates will still act fluidly os that as the site window is reduced, the site shrinks and always seem to have setting of 95%.
Also, I cannot create a specified width greater than 980 pixels. Even when I enter a greater value, it does not apply. Maybe if I can change this, it will do the trick. But changing the widths of the .main class, and even body.bd main, does not change the fluidity because …..
… when looking at the CSS generated by the site, I see that this width setting is always handled by the .main class, which is set to 95%, and this is appearing in a stylesheet that has been dynamically generate during the rendering of the site and does not really exist anywhere I can change it. Where could I change this or override it, or is is too hard-wired into the plugin core code to want to mess with?
I have read up on the Wiki on how to change column widths, and I understand to some extent how to use and change layouts and have successfully added module positions. I am doing the homework to get inside this system, but I have yet to find a way to achieve the fixed overall width of the site.
I also want to increase the column width, but I figure if I increase their percentages in the layout, and then fix the overall width, I will then have control over all the widths.
If anyone can help me out, or point me in the right direction, I would give much thanks and appreciation.

Check this guide to know how to change site width http://wiki.joomlart.com/wiki/JA_T3_Framework_2/Guides#General_Settings

September 23, 2011 at 2:46 pm #414463Does anyone have an idea how it works to use a fixed width more than 980px – I need just 1000 – this should be possible – or not? Where can I adjust that max fixed width??
Thx in advance
Markus
