When my site is viewed on smaller desktop screens, the main nav get’s covered up by the logo. I just want the side bar mobile menu to be used on smaller screens. How do i do that?

Because the menu of your site have many items which causes the mainnav to be covered by the logo. Please try the following tweak to have main nav menu collapsed in small screens:

Open the templates/ja_decor/less/variables.less file

Find and change

@grid-float-breakpoint: @screen-md-min;

To

@grid-float-breakpoint: @screen-md-max;
