I would like to know how to change the favicon ?

favicon is stored as a .ico file. Just simply replace this with your own favicon image.

hi vkhiga,
There are two way to change favion here:
1: You can change by copy overwrite the favion.ico in images folder.
2: You copy a new file with .icon extension into images folder. then you log in to your admin cp >> site >> global configuration. On site tap you will see the text box at the end of page and you have enter the name of icon file you had copied to images folder above.

Is the .ico just a prefix or is it a special type of program file. ?

.ico is a specific file type, yes. Search here or on Google and you can read more about it.
