In the backend the dimension is 90X190 however I would like to use square image like 90X90, it appears to me it doesn’t work with the feature news column. I want to show 4 or 5 featured news with image in this section so can you help ?

are you mentioning about the ja news fp module?

I have checked this issue, the rendering thumbnail function is working well as per the configuration. Have you used the linked image ( images are linked from other sites )? because this function only work with images from your own site directory? if possible provide me the link?
