June 4, 2009 at 8:23 am #141685I am working with the JA Quartz template, and I want to create a custom menu that is completely independant to the main menu.
I also want to customize the look of this custom menu completely.
Would it be as simple as creating a new menu module, and pointing each ‘tab’ to the url of an image that I create?
Obviously I can fiddle with the css to position it where I want to.
Thoughts?

June 4, 2009 at 3:16 pm #306908I don’t understand what you mean.
I can find a joomla extension to build the menu? Or find a menu offered elsewhere and copy the code into the joomla files?
Sorry if these are silly questions.

Ok, here’s what I can tell you about menus.
You can make as many menus as you want.
However, as of now only ONE menu can be in the position that the main menu currently is in.
This is because this menu is selected through template manager.
You can make as menu menus as you want and place them in different locations throughout the template by using Module Manager to assign menus to positions.
You can customise the look of the menu as much as you want by editing the associated css file.
So far example, if you where using moo menu, you would need to go to templates/menus/moomenu/moomenu.css and edit it there.
HOWEVER any edits you make on this menu will be displayed throughout the entire template. No idea what you mean by tab, you might be better of creating an image to show us what you mean.

June 4, 2009 at 6:44 pm #306952OK, so what I have done, is bought swMenuPro component and am going to see if this is the easiest way for me to create custom menu/nav bar.
I understand I probably could have done it without it, but I like the flexibility it seems to offer according to their website.
What I am going to do is
1. Create new module position (I don’t like any of the standard positions for this)
2. Create new menu with swMenuPro.I’m going to try to work some magic, and hopefully return with link to me new custom menu! 🙂
