    Hello,

I have created a site with puresite template. There I discovered the T3v2 framework. So I thought that is quit nice, easily change/add positions etc.

Now I have, three years ago, two site’s created for my brother with virtuemart (http://www.dogwatch.nl). This was done a few years ago with Joomla 1.5 and vm1.1.9. For the webshop I have used ‘JA Larix template’.
Now we want to upgrade the website’s to joomla 2.5 with vm2.0.x.

I thought ok, now we have T3v3 framework. I read the documentation/video tutorials. I’m already a few days bussy with it, but for me it is, it’s hard to get up and running. I understand the documentation, but to add a position next to logo… that is for me not easy at this moment. To add the position ‘top-menu’ is not difficult but get it styled as my design… I’m working from the T3 BS3 blank template.

So now I was asking myself what is the best way to do? I’ve been searching for a joomla template joomla with virtuemart based on T3v3, but I couldn’t find anything or… I see that other theme builders (bowthemes) has adopted the T3 framework.

I have attached my design. The main menu are the virtuemart category’s.. This is my joomla home page http://www.dogwatch.nl.
For the webshop I understand I need another template.

(Sorry, I’m under a little presure, because I have promised him to fix this again for him, but now I’m doubting if I can manage this at my evening time. I’m sleeping bad the last nights because I don’t make really progress).

Has anybody a good idea/tip how to get this managed?

    Thanks.

    Nico

    Hi Nico,

For Joomla template with Virtuemart based on new T3, we have JA Hawkstore template, please check out the demo site here: http://joomla-templates.joomlart.com/ja_hawkstore/index.php/en/

If you want to continue with T3 BS3 Blank template, you can install VM then customize style by your own. Because in this case, you can only have default style of VM (not built-in style as JA Hawkstore)

Not really much to assist on the T3 Framework end of things, but I can tell you that Virtuemart is NO FUN to me. I recently built a site with a Virtuemart shop on it and it was a total Pain to get done – and I’m fairly comfortable with T3. This happens to be in Joomla 2.5 with the T3v3 framework.

I actually really like Ecwid for shopping carts – it integrates simply, it is very friendly for my end-users to add products and such, and it is pretty much no-nonsense, where VM has more power at some things, it’s far too much work to get to and seems like it’s a bit “fragile” to me. I’m looking into using Mijoshop to see how it does, though it looks to be a bit of a complex beast as well!

From what I’ve read (having never used VM 1.x myself) VM 2.x is much different. I have found it to be very difficult to get a lot of things done that I would have thought would be editable from the GUI backend, but instead require all sorts of php tweaking just to do what I’d call pretty normal things. Even getting the emails to go to the right people was WAY more trouble than it should have been.

Here’s what I did – I don’t think this will really help you, but maybe give you some inspiration or something: http://www.cherokeewarriorsfootball.com – the VM page is under the side menu called Shop. This is for a local high school football team and is a live site, so please respect that part 🙂
