November 21, 2011 at 9:09 am #170907Afternoon everyone,
I am very new to K2. I am building a site http://www.myjakartaconcierge.com using the JA Tiris template on Joomla 1.7.
I need some advice. I would like to create categories and then display them as a list like in the following example http://www.londontown.com/restaurants/
I want to have the list like they have (I am not worried about the search engine at the moment just want to have the category list) :
London Restaurants by category:
The Best (1420)
African Cuisine (53)
Afternoon Tea (32)
American Cuisine (135)
Brasseries (133)
British Cuisine (226)
Cafes and Delis (831)
Caribbean Cuisine (24)
Central European Cuisine (14)
Chinese Cuisine (189)
Eastern European Cuisine (23)
Fish and Seafood (88)
French Cuisine (205)
Gastropub (190)
Greek Cuisine (22)
Ice Cream Parlour (7)
Indian/South Asian Cuisine (276)
International Cuisine (205)
Italian Cuisine (654)
Japanese Cuisine (151)
Jewish Cuisine (17)
Korean Cuisine (18)
Mediterranean Cuisine (70)
Mexican Cuisine (27)
Middle Eastern Cuisine (88)
Modern European Cuisine (214)
Pan-Asian Cuisine (27)
Russian Cuisine (9)
Scandinavian Cuisine (4)
South American Cuisine (63)
South East Asian Cuisine (103)
Spanish Cuisine (109)
Thai Cuisine (132)
Turkish Cuisine (85)
Vegetarian Cuisine (89)
I can’t work out how to make a list appear. When I have tried this is the result I get; http://www.myjakartaconcierge.com/index.php/en/restaurants
Any pointers would be great.
Jim

November 21, 2011 at 2:19 pm #425697Please go to your main category and from parametres, set it to “not display” category images, readmore button and other informations and stuff… you should only choose Yes for Display Title. Then you will have a list of titles of the sub-categories.

Thanks Kobenes. I am getting there slowly. I could not find anywhere to click a button to remover the “View Items” button that appears in http://www.myjakartaconcierge.com/index.php/en/restaurants
Also is there a button to change which side the image appears in the items? http://www.myjakartaconcierge.com/index.php/en/restaurants/item/6-xin-hwa-mandarin-oriental-jakarta
I would like to move the image to the right hand side. Do i need to go into the code and change some code?
Cheers Jim
