I’m trying to figure out how to hide the Hit count in Latest news. Anyone know how to accomplish this? I’m using JA Xenia template.

This is usually set in the parameters of the menu item. So if you have chosen articles/section for the menu type, you will then see an area under parameters/ (component parameters) where you can turn off the hits. If you want it on NONE of your articles, just open the article manager in admin and click the parameters icon to set the global parameters (in other words not in an article, but on the main article listing page).
