June 2, 2009 at 12:37 pm #141627Has anyone had success with embedding a google map into a content page (article).
I have tried but I only get the code and link to larger map to show but no map appears. If someone has it working let me know the location and method used.
Thanks

June 3, 2009 at 2:31 am #306585Hi aardcom
To embed the map you need to turn off your editor in Site config so that you have no editor. Then select the article that you want the map to show in and paste the code that you have got from Google maps, then save. You should then be able to see the map on the site.
Only thing to remember is that if you need to edit this article again you must always turn off the editor to keep the map code. In which case best to embed the code last!
Hope this helps
🙂

June 4, 2009 at 11:49 am #306894Yes I did turn of the editor but it still shows as code only. You can see it at
http://www.potrerobeach.com/index.php/general-info/mapThe code is above the other map image. I tried putting it in a iframe but also with no luck. I’m ok with the exisitng map but I would like to know what I’m doing wrong. I had it working on a previous site and used the same code then tried creating a new map and still no luck.

June 4, 2009 at 3:42 pm #306911I have the editors turned off and whenever I place the code in it saves as the following
<br /><small>View <a href=”http://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?source=embed&hl=en&ie=UTF8&cd=3&geocode=FQBHhgAd62EF-w&split=0&msa=0&msid=111473359472662825111.0004693de45b53c3bae51&ll=10.495239,-85.799789&spn=0.324075,0.439453&z=11″ style=”color:#0000FF;text-align:left”>Potrero, Guanacaste, Costa Rica</a> in a larger map</small>I’m stumped…. I’ve checked both the config settings and the user settings to make sure the editor is off.

June 4, 2009 at 5:50 pm #306937Hi aardcom
I did find something here
http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/html-code-doesnt-work/
so it looks like you might find it quicker and easier to use a plugin…
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/edition/custom-code-in-content/1023/details
and/or
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/photos-&-images/maps/8213/details
Hope you get it sorted out!

July 10, 2009 at 3:15 pm #310596Hi aardcom
Don’t know if you have solved this yourself or not but when upgrading to 1.5.12 (and potentially any Joomla upgrade that upgrades the editors) the parameters for the Editor plugin will be reset to default settings. You then have to go in and change them again as follows;
Code Cleanup on Startup – off
Code cleanup on save – never (or front only)And for maps and other widgets etc make sure that the prohibited elements allows what you want to include otherwise it will automatically remove some code.
