Hello, I´m installing the Joomla quickstart for Rutile Template.
But I dont know how to install the sample database??? In the normal Joomla installation, in what moment the assistant ask for the template?
What files, usually, contain the sample??Thanks a lot,
María

July 25, 2010 at 6:35 am #350649Hi María,
On the last stage of Joomla! installation, where you are asked for site name, admin user / pass. There is button >> “Install Sample Data” . Click that and you would have sample data.
the process is no different from installing a normal Joomla.
Check the step by step guide HERE >>

July 29, 2010 at 5:36 pm #351201Ive just unpacked and uploaded the “quick start” joomla folder structure and all required files to do a fresh install of JAOres with template and demo content. No errors on upload. I go to my domain to begin installation and get this error:
<blockquote>Fatal error: Class ‘JLanguageHelper’ not found in ……/installation/installer/models/model.php on line 83</blockquote>
Any help would be appreciated.

July 29, 2010 at 6:58 pm #351206Best to ask in ORES forum it will get missed in here, However it’s missing some files, I’d upload the whole installation folder again overwriting what’s there already, it may just have been a bad connection and some files were lost in the upload, as an alternative method, upload the ores quickstart zip file to your host and then use the host file manager to unzip and create the file structure. This is the fastest way to get the files up.
Blessings Shannon

July 29, 2010 at 7:16 pm #351209Solid suggestion thanks for reinforcing what I was thinking it possibly was. Ive already began the correction process. Ill close my question as resolved if all goes as it should. Thanks again Shannon.
UPDATE: SITUATION RESOLVED. Cause of error was file corruption during upload. Works great!
August 25, 2010 at 11:00 pm #353682I have installed an uninstalled Joomla on godady host account probably 4 times now… With the godady application it was fast and to upload the ja-ores template was easy once I identified that folder and moved it to the template folder in the FTE client.
However, it didn’t look like the demo – so I uninstalled and started all over – and now when I try to upload the files per above to the FTE client I have gotten the error message 3 times “can’t upload one or more files” “pipe disconnected”. Do you know what I should do?
By doing the joomla quickstart installation I need to set up my own MySql data base, right?
If I redo with the godady application – what is it that is different compared to the demo version? What made me redo it was that the wide banner in the middle with text on wasn’t at all that wide.
Please advise. Waz on was off…
JohannaAugust 25, 2010 at 11:09 pm #353683Oh – it says “broken pipe” not disconnected…

now, please try to re-install again. please read a guide on this http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/quick-start-installation-guide/
i recommend you should zip the project and then you up this zip file to the live host and then you access the control panel of the host to extract it and start the installation. if the still could not complete it , you will install the quickstart on the localhost and then you export database => import the database to the live host and you edit some configurations in the configuration.php file inside the project

It seems you are new to Joomla!.
1. The Quickstart zip file is as good as joomla install. I presume you are aware of how to install joomla on a server (without support of fantascio script).
2. Upload the quickstart zip to your server root (folder which is accessible via browser). unzip the content and then point your browser to the directory (where you have unzipped the content). Run the installer, by clicking next option.
3. You will need to create a Database, and user. The installer will ask you the information about host (you can put localhost), then add your Database name, username and password.
4. On the last step, where it asks you the site name, your email and admin password option, remember to click on ” install Sample Data”, so as to get a site, same as the demo site.joomla! is very easy as compared with other CMS, however, it would seem difficult to newbies, but one has to start learning basics.
please try the above steps.

I’ve successfully made it to step 3 above, up to when it asks for the Database name. I’ve tried various names but it returns back to the same page with a message saying something like it can’t find the database.
Thanks for advising,
HeleneSeptember 10, 2010 at 12:59 pm #355127Helene, I had a similar issue yesterday. Have you made sure that login user name and password is the same in the joomla installation as what you have on your hoting server account? For godaddy that would be in the cPanel. That fixed the issue for me.
Hope it works. Thanks and good luck!
JohannaSeptember 14, 2010 at 7:25 am #355455Thanks Johanna: I use godaddy as well. Unfortunately, I tried and retried and I keep getting the message “Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL”.
I think the problem is that in the instructions of Database Configuration, it says:
“Enter the MySQL username, password and database name you wish to use with Joomla!. These must already exist for the database you are going to use.”My question is: how can the database exist if this is a brand new installation? I thought that the “Quickstart” would be just that….but this is the longest installation I’ve ever done!
I wish one of the moderators could answer me? But thanks again for trying Johanna

That means, you need to create an empty DB, a username and password. Then attach that user to the DB created and then provide these credentials to the joomla while installing.
You can see this tutorial of how it can be done on the localhost. The process may be slightly different with godaddy. I am not sure what cpanel godaddy has or whether the DB server is different or not.
http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/how-to-install-ja-quickstart-using-xampp-windows/)
Our quickstart are nothing but Joomla latest build with sample data. THe process of installation is same as with any default joomla installation. So, if you know how to install joomla, then the same steps are to be followed here. Nothing changed with the installation process.
If you still have difficultly in getting through the installation at godaddy. You can PM me your skype ID and i shall chat you through the process.

September 21, 2010 at 3:43 am #356191Hello:
I’ve read quite a bit of this thread and need a bit more help: I followed the Quickstart/unzip/ftp route. As I result, I do have a website and I can sign in to the admin back end. However, my site does not look like the demo. That demo is really what I need to start with. Can someone take a look and give me an idea as to what I’m doing wrong/why the site does’nt look like the demo? Thanks very much. Site url: http://localprodirectory.com
