Hi i am a joomla novice and i am having some problems with the installtion of the extensions which come with the Teline II template and with the Quickstart aspect
I have uploaded the Quickstart folder – (i installed the enitre ja_teline_ii_for_joomla_1.5.v1.6.zip to my Public HTTP folder and unzipped the various parts ) it along with the template, extensions and so on are found on my directory
however the quickstart sample content does not appear on my site and there has been no option to follow instructions – no options for sample data etc.i have deleted the installation folder in the Quickstart folder but alas nothing!
what am i doing wrong?

Hi Mat
Did you install the qs from the browser after uploading it etc and select “install sample data” when asked to in the info panel?I have made a teline II quickstart installation video tutorial for a local host which does not differ from a host based install except for db creation and hostname pwds etc its available for dl from this Link

Thats the file permission or folder ownership problem . It seems mod_janews is trying to create folder in the /images/ resized . May be manually creating that resized folder in the /images folder, along with setting file permission to 755 or 777 (in some cases), and checking the folder ownership in case the thumbnails are still not generated, What has been happening is that the folder ownership of the auto generated folders goes to “apache apache” or root instead of default web owner is some of the cases.
.

sorry – didnt finish my post..I want to know how to do a quickstart install when i already have a database set up. do i need top remove that database first?
In have deleted the old joomla install – uploaded the quickstart zip then extracted it on the server as per instructions
but i do not know how then to get the intsall wizard starting again – what url should i type in? – in other words i am not given the option to indstall the sample DB that comes with the QStart
at the moment i go to the existing admin page rather than a fresh install – is this because there is data in my database already? do i need to delete the extintng DB?
thanks

You don’t need to remove it but it does need to be empty (0 tables).

Point your browser to the directory your Quickstart is in.
ie. If your QS is on your home or public_html directory then just go to your homepage and you will see the install instructions there.
If you have the QS in a different folder (eg. testsite) on your server then point your browser to that folder (www.my-domain.com/testsite)
March 30, 2009 at 4:37 pm #299083thanks Scotty
should i just empty the tables or drop them?
when i point my browser to the public_html/index.php or the adminsitrator./index.php – i dont get any install options – as i already have old data in my database
is it installation/index.php is should point to?

March 30, 2009 at 4:42 pm #299085No don’t put anything after the location. Either your home URL or the folder the QS is in. Nothing else. No admin, index, install – nothing.
If you have completely removed your old Joomal install (inc the config file) then there will be no reference to a database so your old DB being empty or not makes no difference (until you try to fill it).
Drop or empty? Doesn’t matter once there’s nothing in them 🙂

March 30, 2009 at 5:19 pm #299098What I think is that you guys don’t want to really show how to install the templates because you want extra money for professional services.
Thais is wickedness and will drive a lot of people away. This how I feel and can expres that.
March 30, 2009 at 5:47 pm #299101Can u explain this better? Because it is not well explained. URL… what URL… and what are you actually saying?

Thats not right. None of the guys replying to this thread are from Joomlart Official Support team, we all are like you, we have paid for our membership as you must have done.
Quickstart installation is same as installing joomla, just on the last page where you add your email and password, you have to click “Add sample Data” below the password boxes. remove or rename your installation directory and you are done.
You might want to rephrase your comment about extra money. We all are fellow members here.
regards
arvind

To have a overview about joomla installation have a look at http://www.compassdesigns.net/tutorials/17-joomla-tutorials/120-how-to-install-joomla-15.html.
Again i repeat, quickstart installation procedure is similar to Joomla installation, just click on “add sample data” and you have the joomla installation with joomlart template.
Joomla needs a empty database with username and password, you empty or drop is your lookout, provide a clean and empty database to your joomla installation.
Hope this helps.
March 30, 2009 at 6:19 pm #299109Start installation by typing your URL to the quickstart that you have extracted (uploaded). The installation page should be appeared as normal Joomla! installation.
WHAT IS THE URL YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT…….?
