It would be nice to have a Joomla1.5.4-JA Teline II v1.4.

    However, as discussed here:

Fixes: from the changelog of JA Teline II v1.4

So many other issues encountered by others were not addressed ion the Teline IIv1.4 release.

I would if I know how gaygiorgia, but you already gave the answer — what is needed is a patch; otherwise, you have to uninstall and install with the upgrade that they provided. I do not know if

I did that — uninstall and install — last time with the “separate” JA Teline II v1.3, what I found out was that it came with its own set of bugs.

When I looked at the changelog, most of the features that were fixed, I do not use, like the registration — I use Community Builder. The default Joomla registration login is not really very safe — even the Joomla core team recognized that. Some of the other problems, we actually found the workarounds ourselves. We also found the workaround to Chris’s problem.

Basically, I can live without the patch provided. In fact, you are risking your site (and you have done a lot of work on it already, from what I saw).

If you are really intent on the JA Teline II v1.4 (which I consider not so significant), the best is to create a development install. A Quickstart install of the original Joomla 1.5.3-JA Teline II, which will take less than an hour. Then uninstall the original JA Teline II and install the JA Teline II v1,4.

This will mimic template changes without the data being affected. Technically, installing a template does not have to overwrite the data. At least that is how Gavick Pro configured their templates and data. With this approach, it is possible to do what you wanted to do, after you did it in a development site. Then, I would still backup my database, just to play safe.

I am not sure if there is a way to install JA Teline II v1,4 without the Demo data, My experience with installing sequentially Joomla =>Gavick Pro template did not affect the existing database content itself, because the Demo content is separated from the Gavick Pro template itself. I am not sure if architectural framework of Joomlart is built in a similar manner.

I have so many unanswered posts from Joomlart already, so I would not hold my breath expecting any response from them.

I am trying to find a more comprehensive overhaul of the whole JA Teline II to include all the bugs so far identified and other key features that would be nice to have. Since Joomlart is not helping, we will try to do it on our own — “hire” someone if needed, and just share the cost. Overall, that will be cheapest, in terms of my time and effort. Less frustrating too.

yeah we need some guidlines on how to update man… this is getting friggin old at least a patch would be great to update from 1.2 to 1.3 or 1.2 to 1.4 however they want to handle it..

or if we can just uninstall the 2 modules and theme and install it again.. does that solve it? what configuration files we have to save etc.. in the theme

and least finally there is a change log starting.. at least thats a start in the right direction.
