Is there any way of making an article stay in the first place on the front page? I know that it can be placed into a custom module but that will put it out of the reach of some editors and I want to display a ‘welcome to this site’ introduction which can be edited and changed easily.

I want it to be the leading article on the home page and not to let any other article nudge it out of the way.

If you go to menu manager>main menu>Home> advanced parameters> you can set how articles are listed on the front page…. oldest, newest, alpha, order.

If you set to Order and then set your welcome article as 1 it will always be the first article. But of course this means all your other articles will be listed by order also.
