I have the JA Conten Slider on my multilingual website http://www.munich-bus-hire.de
I have sightseeing trips in different lanuages and show the trips on the frontpage with JA Content Slider.
But all articels where shown in all languges.
I just want to show the articel in the language that the user selected. If the user select German, he should see only the trips in German language.
There is no Check-Box in the settings “Show only articels in selected language”
regards

March 16, 2012 at 4:50 am #443923Hello,
Did you try to use Joomla 2.5.x language control ? ( i think it was working on J1.7.x also)
That’s the only way i guess.Regards
March 16, 2012 at 6:14 am #443933Yes, this is the way I used to make the website mulitlinugal.
But the developer of the JA Content Slider “forgot” to implement the language filter. There may be some workarounds to create a module for each language and to change the category depending on the langugae.
(sigthseeing-en, sightseeing-ge, sightseeing-es etc..)
But this is a lof of work and I think, that the developer needs to implement the language filter in this slider.Manos ModeratorManos

March 16, 2012 at 3:00 pm #443990Hello,
I just checked on the latest version and the language filter is there! Are you still on J.1.7.x or you have upgraded your website to the latest version ?
Also even if you make use of the language filter my understanding is that still you will need to make different instances of the module so you can display different categories or use different settings according to the selected language from the user.
Unless i missed something here 🙂March 16, 2012 at 3:04 pm #443993Yes I know that this will work with differnt modules, but this is not a good way.
Thankyou anyway.

March 16, 2012 at 3:13 pm #443995:confused: Sorry but what’s the other way ? Technically Joomla treats the different language as a different site but only makes use of the same global settings for db etc .
That’s the way we were doing this even with Jomfish.
March 16, 2012 at 3:24 pm #444000The other way should be, that the JA content Slider should have a setting, where I can check, whether only articels with active language should be displayed.
I am working with ContentBuilder from Crosstec and there is the possibility to show only articles with active language.:use active language: Yes No

March 17, 2012 at 2:29 am #444083Interesting, and don’t get me wrong but i haven’t seen that on any other software in Joomla ( i am not saying i know all of them 🙂 ) but they way i know about Joomla works similar to the way J2.5.x has implemented and that is by setting the language that this module will be shown, and you can set it to show on all languages or on a specific one.
Regards
March 17, 2012 at 11:08 am #444120So now I did as you suggested.
I changed the language of the module from “all” to “German”.Now the module is only be shown if you switch the langaugae to German, but the slider shows all articels no metter which language.
Is this a bug or a feature ?You can check it out on the frontpage of my website http://www.munich-bus-hire.de.
So it’s I easy question.
I have two same articels in Cagegory Sightseing, one is in German language and one is in English. How can I tell the content slider that he should not show the articel in both langages.

March 17, 2012 at 1:55 pm #444138Hi Helmut,
I don’t know how you have your system set up for two languages but as all of mine are dual I try to be ‘sehr ordentlich’ – so that I can find something quickly and so that anyone else can administer the site if needed.
As pascm said earlier Joomla treats it as two sites, one for each language.
So I have two main categories: one called English, the other called Swiss. I then mirror sub categories under each of those. There are set language specific. Articles assigned to these are also set with language – for me it doesn’t matter where they actually sit if they are assigned to the language. Joomla even lets you copy these across to another category or menü etc and change the language at the same time.
Therefore in effect, I have a Swiss site and an English one. I copy a modul, set it’s language and then I can pick that it only accepts articles from the Swiss section or from the English section.
so for you z.B. your articles would be assigned to category – German/Sightseeing and English/sightseeing and each assigned to it’s language.
Might seem like hard work but in reality it isn’t. I don’t have to search for something. I know if it is in Swiss, I go to Swiss menü or to Swiss category. Einfach!
Hope that helps you with the concepts I use to ultimately make my life easier.
Bestens.
