    Hello,

I have a webiste running on Joomla 1.0.x and I would like to migrate it to Joomla 1.5.x

1- How do I procced to this without loosing content and data?

2- Since I have installed Teline 1 template (for Joomla 1.0.x), what do I need to do for converting the template to a compatible one?

Please consider any easier way as I am quite a newbie on this.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

some links here for you to read:

    http://docs.joomla.org/Migrating_from_1.0.x_to_1.5_Stable

    http://www.siteground.com/tutorials/joomla15/joomla_upgrade.htm

From what it sounds like, the official joomla site states there is a migrator component you can install. the above links provied you with helpful steps in getting this done.

I have just done this myself and it is quite easy. Just don’t use the standard Joomla migrator but go for MTW Migrator instead, it does a much better job.

Make a note of all Components, plugins etc on your old site and install them on your new site before you do the migration. Where some might not be available for J1.5 take some time testing alternatives before you jump.

I did all my migration on my desktop using Wamp so if and when I did make mistakes it was a lot faster and easier to rectify.

    Good luck.

Thank you guys for your replies.

As for my Question 2, what/How do I do … for the template (Teline 1)?

Install the quickstart for teline j1.5, install the mtw component. Copy all you images to the images folder of the new install. Install ant components, plugins or modules that you need.

Follow the instructions with mtw migrator making sure to configure it as instructed exporting the data from the old site and importing it to the new.

Then you will just need to touch up a few things but until you do it you will not know what.
