    As seen in the attached image there is too much "black" area above and under the search box. I have tried to remove it by using the custom.css without success. Any ideas on how to adapt the search box so it uses this excellent search component instead?

    I would like to remove the search button and advise the visitor to hit enter in the search text box area.

    Hi,

    As I can see that the search box looks fine now. Did you get it solved?

    I actually removed the text from the language file to get rid of the top text. However, I now need to get rid of the Search button appearing below in order get the search function in line with the top menu.

    Any ideas on how to solve it?

    In order to remove the search button, go to Module backend, set Auto Filter to Yes. With this setting, you can only type on Text Field, the Search will auto process

    Thank you for trying to help. Your suggestion removes the Search button but leaves a black area downwards of about 50 px. Also, the automatic filtering is not perfect. If I type in the search field there is NO filtering done automatically unless I hit "Tab" button … or click outside the search box.

    This is something I would call a small bug … so please look into it and let me know your comments.

    Hi,

    Your suggestion removes the Search button but leaves a black area downwards of about 50 px.

    Try to add these line to your CSS file:

    .head-search-wrap ul.ja-k2filter li{
         margin-bottom: 0;
    }

    Also, the automatic filtering is not perfect. If I type in the search field there is NO filtering done automatically unless I hit "Tab" button … or click outside the search box.

    It’s not a bug, that’s the workflow of this function. As Autofilter will auto reload page once one field has event onChange. But if you want, we can help you custom it, also you must Enable Ajax search to make sure page won’t reload each time you search.
