Pavit is correct about using Akeeba backup. Here are the basic steps:
Install Akeeba backup.
Create a backup and download it.
Upload the backup to the directory that you wish to contain the working site.
Also, upload (to the same directory) a script that is free on Akeeba’s site called “kickstart.php”
In Cpanel, create a blank database and user and write down your user and password, etc.
Using your web browser, navigate to the install directory. Use its URL followed by /kickstart.php
Follow the instructions! The latest version of kickstart.php is supposed to remove the install directory, but make sure that’s done.
The people at Akeeba (Nicholas for one) do incredible work. I recommend their admin tools product. It performs some basic but important security functions, like changing default database table prefixes, admin numbers and directory permissions.
Good luck.
