Hi Guys, I have an existing website http://www.vivaasiamagazine.com using Teline IV. I liked the Nex template so I rebuilt the site using Nex but placed it at http://www.mybaliconcierge.com while i was building it. Both sites are hosted with Bluehost. I now want to move the new site to the vivaasiamagazine domain. What is the simplist way to do this? I guess i will need to upgrade the vivaasia domain to 1.7 first?

Thanks. Actually i had just solved the issue about 5 minutes before i got you reply. In the end the Bluehost guys live chat helped me with deleting the old files and moving across the new ones. Cheers

I think the method which is shared here is very popular and it might be helpful while doing some this type of task. So it is really useful to everyone who have same problem.

Yes thanks guys. I had tried to work it out and then got lots of advice about using 3rd party applications which looked very confusing. However, as both domains were hosted on the same hosting account it turned out very simple to delete the old site and replace it with the new one by copying the files over.

I guess if it they had been on different hosting accounts it would not have been a different story.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Google provides webmasters who want to move their website with a detailed roadmap available at https://www.google.com/support/webmaster…

MOVING A WEBSITE IN A NUTSHELL

Google furthermore provides webmasters with a section to help them manage the moving of their site from A to Z—it’s available within Google Webmaster Tools at http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/

This will help Google update its index faster and smooth the transition for website users.

    Here are the recommended steps:

    1. Set up the new site, making sure all internal links point to the new domain name.
    2. Redirect permanently all traffic from the old site to the new one with 301 redirects.
    3. Ask external websites pointing to the old domain name to update their links.
    4. Add new site to Google Webmaster Tools, and have it verified b Google.
    5. Tell Google about the new location of the website (there’s a form in Google Webmaster Tools).

After doing all the above, check your data periodically in Google Webmaster Tools to see if your new site has been crawled and indexed (if you have a Sitemap, one way to determine this is by checking Sitemap details for the new site to see how many of the pages have been crawled and indexed).
