how can we make a Top (parent) menu item do nothing when we click it?
In my menu i have a “products” button which drops down so we can choose the item we want but i dont want to make the product button itself on top link to anything.

use # instead of url in the menu item setting and its done.

In joomla 1.5, open your menu item, click on change type>> select External link >> and in the link : put #.
