I am using JA Social at http://help.salesways.com
I want my main menu horizontal navigation (main menu, CSS menu style) to only show the top level menu items: Home, General Help, Admin & Setup, etc.(menu level 0)
I have another menu module in the sidebar (using the joomla split menu technique) to show the child menu items (menu level 1)I need to know how to set the main menu module to only show 0 level menu items.
- I have set the menu module “start level = 0” and “end level = 0” in module manager.
- But I think this is over-ridden by the Joomlart template menu settings (in template manager).
- So, in the template manager>>profiles>>default>>menu settings, I have set start level = 0 and end level = 0, but my main menu is still rendering 2 levels of menu items instead of only 1.
Is there another setting I should be looking for? :((
October 20, 2010 at 6:04 pm #359728This is a message in the template editor that reads:
Menu Assignment
Menus: Cannot assign default template.Does this have something to do with it?
I’ve tried copying the default profile and applying that instead of the default profile, but that did not have an effect.

October 22, 2010 at 7:36 am #360014I have informed the issue: Start-End Level of The ja menu setting. now, i have a quick fix for this while you wait for our developers fixing this issue;
You add the following code into the template.css file:
#ja-cssmenu li ul {
display:none;
}1 user says Thank You to Saguaros for this useful post
October 26, 2010 at 4:23 pm #360653ok, thank you. Does this mean that there will be an update to install for the template in the future?

October 29, 2010 at 7:39 am #360999present, that function is working but with errors, it will be updated 🙂
May 24, 2011 at 3:27 pm #392688The same issue exists in the JA_T3_Blank template. Menu start level and menu end level settings in both the menu module and in the template manager have no effect on the CSS main menu. The CSS main menu will just show all menu items no matter what the start and end levels are set to.
Is there an update for the templates yet?
