    Hi everybody,
    I’m not able to give the order I like to the sections into JA News Module.

    For example: if in navigation menu the order of the section from left to right is >
    home, politic, economy, world, entertainment, sports, movie

    JA News module is divided (in home page) into two columns
    the order is random?
    I’m not able to give mine, for ex:
    politic – economy
    world – entert
    sport – movie

    but now is (random?)
    entert – sport
    economy – politic
    movie – sport

    HOW TO GIVE MY ORDER TO SECTIONS INTO JA NEWS MODULE?
    thank a lot to everyone

    Hi Andrea,

    The general order of the JA News module in Teline II is like this:

    1 4
    2 5
    3 6

    politic – economy
    world – entert
    sport – movie

    ipolitic would be first (1) and economy would be fourth (4th)

    assuming you have content in each section. For example, even if you ordered it as indicated above, if yhou do not have content in 2, it will appear initially as:

    2 5
    3 6
    3

    until you add an article in Section 1.

    How to achieve or try this?

    Go to your administrator page:

    First go to your Section Page

    administrator => Contents => Sections

    to find the Section ID number associated with each section (you can see the correct number using the description in the top column of the table. The correct ID number for each Section is the number at the far right of each column

    1 About Joomla! Published Move Down Public 3 10 0 4
    2 News Published Move Up Move Down Public 3 15 0 1
    3 FAQs Published Move Up Move Down Public 4 22 0 3
    4 Sport Published Move Up Move Down Public 5 15 1 5
    5 Artist Published Move Up Move Down Public 4 12 0 6
    6 Travel Published Move Up Move Down Public 3 13 0 8
    7 Life and Style Published Move Up Move Down Public 4 12 0 9
    8 Health Published Move Up Move Down Public 3 11 0 11
    9 Entertainment Published Move Up Move Down Public 4 12 0 12
    10 World Published Move Up Move Down Public 4 13 0 13
    11 Technology Published Move Up Move Down Public 4 12 0 14

    for example, About Joomla which is the first in the default list has a Section ID # 4

    Write them down to simplify by including only the Section ID# and the Section name. I would do it like this:

    1 News => Balitaan
    3 FAQs
    4 About Joomla => Ugnayan
    5 Sport => Milestones
    6 Artist => Reflections
    8 Travel => Lakbayan
    12 Life and Style => Cele
    13 World => Ang Bayan Ko
    14 Technology

    where the first left number now would be Section ID #. The reason for this is that I rename the existing Sections with the names of new ones, if I do not have the same section names. I also ordered them, not according to the final order but I want my priority Sections to have the lowest number, as possible.

    ************
    Warning: Renaming of the Sections and Categories can be tricky, if you do not know what you are doing. You have to ensure that you rename the menu properly also.

    In the example given above, while I renamed News => Balitaan, the Section ID remains the same Section ID#1 — you must check them in the Menu magazine when you rename the sections and Categories there.

    If this approach proves too confusing. your better bet is to create new Sections, and unpublish the ones that are not the same, as your choices.
    **************

    Next go to the Modules page:

    administrator page => Extensions = Modules
    Open (click) the Module Manager
    Open (click) the JA News module

    In the JA News module, you will find in the mid right, a box

    with numbers and different colors (I changed them all to deeoblue)

    13:deepblue
    14:deepblue
    8:deepblue
    12:deepblue
    5:deepblue
    9:deepblue
    11:deepblue
    6:deepblue

    You can confirm (before you changed anything that 13 is the ID# of World, etc. The first four numbers are the numbers in the first column, and the next four numbers are in the second column (you can confirm this if I am mistaken or not)

    1 4
    2 5
    3 6

    or in your case:
    politic – economy
    worldentert
    sport – movie

    Find the correct ID #1 and using the ID Number only, as above

    (ID# ):desired color you like (choose from the 6 choices) => politic
    13:desired color you like (choose from the 6 choices) => world
    5:desired color you like (choose from the 6 choices) => sport

    (ID# ):desired color you like (choose from the 6 choices) => economy
    (ID# ):desired color you like (choose from the 6 choices)=> entert
    (ID# ):desired color you like (choose from the 6 choices)=> movie

    Note that only world and sport have the same name as those in your choices. The closest to enttert (Enttertainment?) is Life and Style (ID#12). Movie is actually a category in Life and Style (ID#12). If you want to make it a major Section, and not a Category, you have to create a new Section, the system will autogenerate an ID#

    The best way is to just try and move things around, as I outlined in great detail above — until you get the correct order. Again, as a reminder, be sure to have articles in new sections, otherwise you will not see them appear in your listing.

    andrea,

    I hope it helps. Just play around with it. That is how I learned to make things work sometimes.

    Just be very careful with the renaming of existing sections. It took me more than a day once to help a very experienced guy (when it comes to Joomla) untangle the mess when he made the mistake of not renaming the Sections and in sequence rename the corresponding one in the Magazine menu.

    The problem is that the order (of both Sections and Categories) in the Contents window is different from the Magazine Menu.

    If you do not feel confident because you are not used to it yet, it is safer as I stated above to create new Sections, rather than renaming them.

    Hi,
    I’m working on a website where I post a lot of articles and I want to show the links to these articles in alfabetical order using JA News module version 1.3.2. When I let the module categorize by order it orders from Z – A instead of putting A on top and Z as last output. Here is a link to the example;

    Hi nvhengel

    Your link results in a 404 error …

    However, regarding the alphabetical listing of articles…

    Using the Menu Manger, open the Magazine menu, and click on the category menu that you want alphabetical.

    On the right hand side click on ‘Parameters (Advanced)’.

    Make sure that the Category Order and Primary Order are set as follows:

    This should then ensure that all articles in that particular category are alphabetical A-Z.

    Thanks, but this does not seem to work. I have set the section menu link to alphabetical but no result. I changed the link again. Let me know what to do…
